Sunday Evening Whites

I'm taking some liberty with colour-association here. It's Sunday night and I don't have the blues (thankfully) nor the "terrible reds" (I don't think I ever associate 'red' with 'terrible', really), nor even the greys. It's raining outside and I can't tell you how happy it makes my heart to think, "It's raining"! I have always liked rain, but it's taken me a while to accept any rain that's not large, heavy, warm tropical rain. Here the water evaporates before most of the raindrop can hit the ground or, if you're at the right elevation, falls as snow. Most days what we'd call a drizzle even in singara chennai with its comparitively light rainfall, is counted as a heavy downpour here in the valley, and makes everything awfully cold, especially this time of the year.
The trick to loving this rain, I find, is dressing right (a few more layers than just the one raincoat, and waterproof footwear - no sandals in the rain in this city!) and looking for rainbows.
